Goji Berries (cont..)

Super Nutrient, Improves Eyesight, Antioxidant and Anti-ageing

The Goji Berry grows predominantly in the northwest part of China and in Tibet. These Goji Berries are bought from Of The Earth and are lovingly grown in Ningxia Province and are organically certified by Eco-Cert.

–It is said in China that eating a handful of Goji Berries each morning will make one happy for the entire day. Such a practice has a cumulative effect. Eventually, you can't stop smiling!

This extraordinary berry's health benefits include maintaining a healthy immune system, improving eye-sight and blurred vision, improving hearing, supporting healthy liver function, maintaining healthy blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, replenishing vital essence and bone marrow and strengthening bones and tendons.

Super Nutrient

Goji berries contain 29 fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are essential for utilizing light and maintaining cell membrane integrity.

Goji berries and cacao nibs supplemented with omega 3 provide all the vitamins and minerals needed to produce Prostaglandins. (Omega 3, Omega 6, Magnesium, Zinc, B3, B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin E). Prostaglandins have highly specific functions including regulating hormone action, enhancing the immune system, affecting inflammatory response and regulating hydrochloric acid secretion in the stomach. These substances also help inhibit or reduce inflammation, thrombosis, cholesterol synthesis, blood vessel tone and the formation of abnormal cells, protect us from cardiovascular disease, maintain the salt/water balance, insulin secretion, nerve conduction and gastrointestinal function. The first series of prostaglandins is also thought tot help lower blood pressure and protect the liver from the effects of alcohol and other irritating drugs. Important little prostaglandins!

Goji Berries have an incredibly high content of beta-carotene, perhaps the greatest of any food on Earth. Beta-carotene can be transformed into vitamin A under the influence of human liver enzymes. Goji Berries are also very rich in Vitamin C (500 times that of oranges weight for weight) and also have significant amounts of Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin E.

Goji Berries contain 18 amino acids; of which 8 are indispensable for the human body (such as isoleucine and tryptophan). Goji Berries contain Leucine, an essential amino acid that we do not make in our bodies. Leucine is regarded as more than just an essential amino acid: It also supports immune function, burns fat, and builds muscle.

Goji Berries also contain 21 trace minerals including zinc, iron, copper, calcium, germanium, selenium and phosphorous, all of which are essential for life. Mature fruits contain about 7-11 mg. of iron per 100 grams.

The Goji Berry provides key nutritional support for children in their early growth and formative years. Good nutritional support is especially important for children's growing bodies, which are under enormous pressure from petrochemical pollution and toxins.

Improves Eyesight

In ancient China, Goji Berries were held in high regard for their vision improvement properties. Recently a small test was conducted, looking into the effects of Goji B erries on eyesight. Twenty-seven people were tested and showed a dramatic improvement in both dark adaptation and vitamin A and carotene content of their serum (measures of eyesight acuity). Vision under subdued lighting also improved.

Antioxidant & Anti-Ageing

The Goji Berry is a powerful antioxidant. Goji B erries have been shown in studies to both prevent and reverse free radical damage.

Goji B erries help to maintain normal cell growth and improve DNA restoration and repair. Eating Goji B erries regularly leads to a strengthening of immunoglobulin A levels (an index of immune function) and because the declining of immunoglobulin A is one of the signs of ageing, an increase in these levels suggests that the Goji Berry may enable injured DNA to repair itself and ward off tissue degeneration.

Cacao nibs and Goji berries together contain all the essential amino acids and therefore make complete proteins. We need a range of all the amino acids within our diet to function efficiently so that we can manufacture the proteins our body needs.

Cacao nibs and Goji berries help to balance blood sugar levels avoiding mood swings and energy lows. Protein is important in the regulation of blood sugar. Ones metabolism may need time to adjust to converting the more complex proteins and fats into energy when changing from a diet high in sugar, caffeine and carbohydrate. Goji berries and Cacao nibs, amongst the other superfoods, provide the ideal alternative, helping ones body return to its natural balance.
